Photoshop CS4 doesn't have hardware acceleration but I can live without that as I don't use it too much.Download the latest version of Intel HD Graphics Family (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.2) drivers according to your computer's operating system. If NVidia would just fix their drivers so I have stable WDDM 1.1 drivers I will be even happied but I'm not really a gamer so no big deal for me. Had several Explorer.exe hangs which fixed themselves by restarting Explorer.exe - never had to reboot, never lost any work. Honestly except this driver issues, I have not experienced any other problems with the Beta so far. Only thing is obviously not WDDM 1.1 but everything is working fine.
No refresh rate problems like some people mentioned - none. I have been running the 185.20 圆4 drivers the rest of the time and have had absolutely no problem. Yesterday that driver popped up on Windows Update with several other updates (I had the driver hidden before but it now showed up again) and it had newer release date so I figured they posted an updated driver - tried it again but same result - blue screens when I attach my external display. If i boot without the monitor and plug it later after I have logged in, it would work for some time but eventually blue screen as well. I tried the driver when I first installed Beta 1 and had blue screens at boot when had external monitor attached via HDMI. For now, I'm sticking to the old Vista driver, which seems to be working fine. Most likely an nvidia issue rather than a windows 7 issue, but I thought I'd post here and see if anyone had had a similar experience, particularly on laptops with nvidia graphics. I'm guessing my screen went black because the existing color mode was unsupported by the new driver. As it turns out, the new nvidia driver is not capable of anything beyond 16-bit color, which is insufficient for Aero. RDPed into the laptop, found out I can no longer reboot via an RDP session from the Start menu, so issued a reboot command from Powershell.Ĭomputer reboots and comes up - but without Aero. However, Windows Update offered me a WDDM 1.1 driver from nVidia. The driver that was already on my system (dated because Dell doesn't like to actually keep their drivers updated) seems to work fine in Aero.

An additional caveat: I did an upgrade install from Windows Vista SP1, not a clean install. I have a Dell Latitude D830 laptop with a Quadro NVS 140M video chipset.
